Nonetheless, the main living areas are all organized and my closet (and dressers) has been purged of all clothes that no longer fit. That was a fabulous feeling. I dropped them off at a plus size consignment shop in town. Five bags of fall and winter clothing. Gone.
I hit another milestone on September 24th. I have officially lost over 50 pounds!!!!

I feel fabulous and each week I am continuing to watch the scale slide down. It's not moving as quickly as it was in the beginning but it's still going down and that's what matters. I was so overjoyed in my accomplishment that I called my father at 5:45 in the morning and told him I had waited an entire hour and couldn't wait anymore before I could tell him. ;-) And then I was pleasantly surprised by a little treat at work....

My next goal is to hit 75 pounds lost by New Year's Eve. I'm thinking with all the 5ks I have this fall that it won't be a problem.
Speaking of 5ks, I have my next 5k this weekend. I'm a little nervous about it since I haven't been training as religiously as I had for my last one. Well, that and I banged up my knee this week and after yesterday's 3.13 mile run it is hurting a bit today. So, I'm going to take today's run "off" and do some Pilates instead. Cross your fingers for me on Sunday morning!!
Enough about me!
Josh is doing great! I just had his first parent-teacher conference yesterday and received a great report. I did have to chuckle, though, because after speaking with his teacher it is no surprise he is my son.
"Josh is only one of three children in the 2nd grade that are moving on to the advanced level of math; however, he is a very social child and enjoys talking to his desk neighbors. The only other area I could see improvement is to encourage him to slow down when doing his work. He tends to rush through to get done in order to talk with his friends and ends up missing problems/questions that I know he knows."
Yeah...that's pretty much the same report my parents received about me until I was....well,...I'm guessing 18? Kind of hard to be upset with the kid when I was the same way. Him and I had a nice long talk. He is exceptionally smart when it comes to math and even though he doesn't like reading and writing as much, he is still well above average. I told him that there are only two things I wanted him to work on - #1 - Talking at appropriate times and #2 - Slow down. We'll see. But even with those two things....I am extremely proud of him.
Ms. Sandstrom told me that Josh is such a good kid. And that he shows a lot of patience with the girls in the class that give him "extra" attention. I about died. I said, "Well, he has two sisters who test his patience constantly." So, apparently not only is he social...but he is also a ladies man. It was funny because I dropped him off at school on Tuesday and before he could get out of the car there was a little girl waiting for him right outside the truck. I just chuckled and shook my head.
I think we're going to be in for it.
Lauren is absolutely loving school. Each day she wakes up and asks if it's a school day for her. If I tell her no she whines, "But I waaaannnntttt it to be." Dustin does not understand the concept of liking school. I told him that I was the same way and that we should be grateful that they both love it.

A few weeks ago Lauren was "helping" me. I was upstairs doing something with Ella and came down to the kitchen to find this....

This is what happens when a three year-old puts Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo in the dishwasher and presses "Go". Took me about ten loads of the rinse cycle to get it all out.
Never a dull moment.
Ella is doing well. We had her 18 month check a few weeks ago and she is still the runt of the group - only in the 80th percentile. I fully understand that that is well above average in size, but these are MY kids we're talking about. ;-)

The only area of concern is that she is still not speaking. We set up an initial assessment with Grant Wood this past Tuesday and after meeting with the Counselor she tested at 13 months for speech. She is required to have a 25% delay in order to qualify for their services, and she did. In all other areas she tested between 20 and 24 months so there are no other delays for which we are concerned. But speech is a big one.
As a precaution they had us test her hearing. So on Tuesday afternoon I took her for testing with the Audiology Department at Grant Wood. She has no problem with hearing. Thank God.
The Speech Therapist is coming out to the house on the 14th and we will begin working with her. Obviously, I'm not overly concerned about all of this. The poor kid has her mother, sister and brother to compete for air time with. Not to mention, the kid gets everything she wants from her brother and sister and doesn't have to ask for anything. But...I don't want to wait any longer to figure this out and if there are things we can be doing to encourage her, we obviously will.
The other night I came up to my room to find the girls cuddling in my chair together. It was adorable for about five minutes...

And that's when the fighting started.
Finally, on September 30th I officially hit four years of blogging. Who would have known four years ago that this would still be going? Hard to believe how much has happened and changed in that time. Thanks again to all of you who have been with us and shared in our lives these last four years!!!
