Lauren's Birthday Present

I was trying to come up with something for Lauren's birthday that she would not only LOVE....but would not clutter up my house. I decided on a day of beauty with mom. It really was a win/win for me! She is pretty much as girly girl as you can get so when I told her I was picking her up from daycare early on her birthday for her surprise the girl just about wet herself when I told her we were going to get our nails done! Photobucket I had another surprise in store for her, though. She was going to get to go to MY hairstylst!! I have been the only person to cut her hair till this point so it was a pretty big moment for both of us!! But before we had her hair appointment...we had to stop and get some ice cream. Photobucket Photobucket As we sat there eating Lauren yawned and I asked if she was tired. Her response was, "Being a girl is hard work, mom!" HA!! She doesn't even know the HALF of it!! Anyway, we went to Brandi and got pampered like a little princess! Her favorite part....was the shampoo and rinse. I told her that even at my age that's still my favorite part of getting my hair done! First Tooth Fairy Visit!

Not long after Lauren's birthday she had another big dose of excitement! Photobucket The teeth on either side of the one she lost are both loose right now so the Tooth Fairy is on HIGH ALERT at our house!!

Lauren's 5th Birthday

Well...the day has come. Lauren is officially five years old!!! I honestly cannot believe how fast the time has gone. I remember the night I found out I was pregnant with her like it was yesterday. And to think that this little child will be starting Kindergarten in the fall? Well....it is bittersweet, but I think both mom/dad and Lauren are ready for it!!! Lauren has been HUGE on Dr. Seuss books lately. She will sit and read them (not sure if actually reading or just has them memorized) for hours. In fact, I can guarantee that there is at least ONE Dr. Seuss book roaming around in my car even as we speak. So when I asked her what she wanted her birthday theme to be this year I wasn't at all shocked that she said Dr. Seuss! I'm not super creative when it comes to birthday parties and I'm not particularily a good baker/cook. So when I searched online for some fun ideas I was THRILLED when I discovered that was adorable AND do-able!! She wanted to bring cupcakes to school on her birthday so we sent her with these....Thing 1 and Thing 2!! Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket They were super duper cute and she LOVED the fact that they had cotton candy on them, as well!!! When it came time for the actual party on Saturday she was all ready to be the star of the show. I mean...the poor kid has been asking when her birthday was going to get here since Josh's birthday....last August. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket This poor cake. I was so mad as soon as I saw it because I asked them to have it look like the Cat in the Hat's hat. Yeah...it didn't. So I was already disappointed when I left the bakery. THEN...I drove too fast and it slipped off the base. THEN...when I went to reach for something in the cupboard I completely smashed the front of it. Oh, well...it was still yummy! Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket It was such a fantastic day and she had a ton of fun! Not much more you could ask for!!
