Avery's Baptism

This weekend Dustin and I had the honor of being Avery's Baptismal Sponsors. She, of course, was perfect and didn't make a peep during the entire service. And Reagan was a proud big sister! We had an extra special thing to be thankful for and that was because Brandon and Emily were here to celebrate with us too!!

After church we all went back to Gretchen and Adam's home for an afternoon of fun, sun and food! What a great way to celebrate Avery's baptism!!

Kid's Day at Kinnick

Last weekend we had a Hawkeye themed birthday party to go to - Harrison turned six!!! He is the son of our fabulous daycare provider and Josh's best bud. After the party a few families went to Kinnick to watch the Hawkeye football team practice and play a scrimmage. The Hawkeyes have a Kid's Day every year in which the players sign autographs, kids get their picture with Herky along with a ton of other things for the kids to do.

It was warm but we had a blast!!!

Go HAWKS!!!

Another one bites the dust!

We've had a break from tooth fairy visits for a few months but she made a welcome appearance at our house last week!! It's funny how tiny those baby teeth really are next to the adult ones!

He has three more that are loose and he's doing everything within his power to make the fall out sooner than later.

She's here!!

The kids had been waiting and waiting and Gretchen came through for them on Dustin's birthday, August 2nd. Avery Elizabeth Lewis is our newest niece/cousin and we are all smitten!!

We had to wait until Tuesday to go up and see her so the kids were pretty pepped up by the time we actually pulled into the hospital parking lot. Josh and Lauren each got a turn to hold her and Ella tried her best to tickle her toes. Every time someone else got to hold her Ella would scurry over in hopes of getting to touch her one more time. It was adorable!

We couldn't be happier for Gretchen, Adam and Reagan!! We are just so happy she's here, she's healthy and she's so loved!

Old McDonald's Farm

We had a surprise visit from Aunt Gretchen and Reagan today!! The rain held off just long enough for us to go to Old McDonald's Farm at Beaver Park and see all the fun animals.

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our youngest niece/nephew! The kids have been talking about the new baby for weeks and now that it could happen any day I get asked just about every hour if he/she is here yet. So not only was it great to see Gretchen and Reagan...but I didn't have to answer the same question every minute! :-) Josh has been praying for a little nephew because as he said, "It's old being around girls all the time." I'll remember that when he's sixteen.

Shoreline Tours & Navy Pier

Today we spent the afternoon at the Navy Pier and took a boat tour on the Chicago River. The kids loved the big boat and I have a freakishly shaped sun burn to show for it.

As we took the boat tour Josh and I said that we'd both love to live in Chicago. It truly is amazing to see all those tall buildings and the hustle and bustle of the city. Chicago is such an amazing city. But then we changed our minds when we got stuck in rush hour traffic.

Tonight we had pizza delivered to the hotel and the kids got another chance to go swimming in the pool. We've crammed a lot into just a few days and I can't believe it's already time to head home tomorrow.

I think we may need to take the next few days to catch up on sleep, though.
