A little Sunday Funday!

Every Sunday I make sure I'm home by dinner time. And each Sunday, thanks to an early spring, we've been able to play outside for a bit after dinner! Tonight was absolutely beautiful and I was able to swing with the girls and enjoy some fresh air!

Even Mattie had some fun playing in the grass!

And Josh took a break from shooting hoops to fight me from getting his picture taken.

And then I had to grab a few pictures of our trees and bushes in full bloom! Unreal!!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

It's been awhile since we've done this but the kids have been cracking me up lately so I figured I'd share a few!

Conversation #1

A few Friday nights ago we watched Annie. And honestly, it had been so long since I'd seen it that I was aghast at how much Ella REALLY looks like her! Of course, every time Annie appeared onscreen, Ella would shout, "It's me"! Well, at one point Annie was walking through the mansion of Daddy Warbucks and this is what happened....

Ella: It's ME, mommy!!
Me: Are you sure?
Ella: Yes! It's ME mommy!!
Me: Really? Do you remember being there?
Ella: **deeply thinking**
Ella: Well........no. BUT IT'S ME!!!!

Conversation #2

The kids destroyed the light over the kitchen table a few months back. A little slight of hand with a spatula by Josh. So we ended up replacing it and getting a new one. Titi was over one night watching the kids for me so that I could work late and had just seen the light for the first time. She was telling Lauren how pretty it was and Lauren's response was..."Yeah, and if one of us breaks it....we may as well pack our bags!"

Conversation #3

We had a bout of the flu in our house this winter. Lauren and Ella both got it and then Ella got it for a second time. It was pretty late at night but I was still up watching a little tv. I heard Ella cough and didn't really think too much of it. And then I heard her cough again. And Lauren came running into my room.

Lauren: MOMMY!!! Ella just puked! You better get in there cuz' that girl's falling apart in there!

I literally busted out laughing!!!

Conversation #4

I don't know if this one is cute...or heart wrenching. It's tax season, of course, and I'm working crazy hours. Unfortunately, this time of year means that most days I just see the kids in the morning while I get ready for work each day....and that's it. And the weekends are not much better. So a few Sundays ago I was getting ready to leave and Ella met me at the stairs.

Ella: I no let you go to work today, Mommy. You stays here with me.

Conversation #5

It's just me and the kids every morning so trying to get myself and three little ones out the door by 7:00 am can be a bit stressful. Some mornings are easier than others but, to be honest....they all are not fun. Usually there are three tired kids who don't want to get out of bed and a half-dressed mommy telling them over and over again to "Get ready"!!

Ella has become quite the night owl, which makes mornings even MORE fun. And when you add that to her new "Independence Phase"....well, it's not good. So the other morning I was trying to encourage her to keep moving and keep getting ready.

Me: Ella....please hurry up, sweety.
Ella:**throws me a stink eye**
Me: Don't you want to beat Josh and Lauren getting ready?
Ella: Mom. I. Don't. Care.

I died. Seriously, the attitude with which she said it was straight out of a teenagers mouth. I have a feeling I'm in for it with this kid.

It's Party Time!!!

Ella wanted monkeys for her birthday again. So in the chaos that is tax season, I looked for a cute monkey party theme for her that wasn't the same as her last one. She loved it...and that's all that mattered!!

Before the party I caught her and Josh sharing a moment over the DS. Too cute!

Uncle Joel and Jamie also brought their new puppy, Layla to the party!! We had met her just the night before and she was the LIFE of the party!!

And then it was time for mommy and daddy's gift! With this AMAZING weather we've been able to start our nightly bike rides already! So.....I figured, we may as well get her started so that she can keep up with us instead of riding in the trailer.

We had such a nice time and the weather was so amazing that all the kids were able to run around outside and play! Who would have thought....in MARCH?!?!?

My Baby is THREE!!!

I cannot believe that my baby girl is three!!! Here's a quick picture of her on her big day! She was pretty excited to have a special day just for her....and to bring Tangled cupcakes to school!

Sledding!

Well, Josh had received a new sled for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa Bricker and he had been waiting patiently for us to get some of the white stuff so he could use it. So, when we had finally gotten a few inches some friends of ours just happened to get a hold of us and ask about a sledding party at their place! It's actually our old daycare provider's family. They had moved out to a huge farm in Ely and their new yard has a HUGE hill! So we all planned a trip out there with another old daycare family for Sunday. And God must have wanted us to have a ton of fun because he sent more than six more inches of powdery snow on Friday for us to have fun with!

The three moms stayed out with the kids and had just as much fun as they did! I think we each went down the hill at least a dozen times and I don't think I have laughed that hard in quite a long time. One time Lauren and I were going to race, she went flying down the hill and by the time she reached the bottom she had flipped over and by the time I got down there she was face down in the snow. I went over and turned her over, thinking she was crying, and she was laughing so hard she couldn't breathe! I mean seriously....BEST. TIME. EVER!!!

Of course, Ella was too scared to go down the hill and even though I thought it was funny to take her down the waterslide at Christmas...I thought it may be too soon to make her go down the big hill. I need her to trust me again at some point! ;-) She stood at the top and was terrified the first few times we all went down but then as soon as she realized we were all okay she'd calm down again. That is...until we went down again. That child is going to be one nervous Nelly!

After a few hours outside the kids were ready for some hot chocolate!!

It was sooooooo nice to get together again with our friends again! The kids miss eachother so much and it was so sweet to see them play together so well. Even though the oldest is around nine and the youngest is only two, you would never know. Just made me smile the entire day to hear their giggles and play.

It truly was a GREAT day!
