On the move

With the start of school I am finding that our schedules are getting pretty full. Each weekend is filled with trips, appointments and parties; each weekday is filled with doctor's appointments, practices and school meetings.

With all this activity my calendar is filled with reminders so that each morning I am reminded of things I need to do the following day. Even with all these systems in place, I have forgotten a thing or two. Like, last Friday we received a call reminding us that we had signed Josh up for Flag Football. Whoops.

I had Dustin call and find out when it was because, for the life of me, I completely forgot that I had even signed him up. Uh, yeah...six weeks of flag football on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30. WTH?!? I must have scheduled this during tax season when I had "pregnancy brain" and my only focus was on finishing tax returns. Because I obviously wasn't thinking of the logistics of all this - what with having the girls with me right during our normal dinner time.

Should be fun. I keep hoping that he'll hate it and beg to quit. Knowing my luck he'll love it and want to take another session.

After a very successful garage sale on Saturday, mom, Ti-ti and I took the kids down to Iowa City to finish my shopping for the family photo session this weekend. Dustin was thrilled to have the house to himself during the biggest game of the season: Iowa vs. Iowa State. (GO HAWKS!)

Unfortunately, I think he had dreams of his one and only son staying with him to watch the football game. And when Josh said he would rather go with the girls shopping...he was a little crushed.

I kept telling him it was because he wanted to ride the carousel. But I don't think it helped.

Shopping with three kids is never fun. It's exhausting. It takes five times as long. And by the end you just want to stick a "For Sale" sign on each of your children and hope for a good offer.

Each time I am reminded why I do 80% of my shopping online.

As eager as I was to get Ella's nursery started I still haven't even finished it. I have been looking for something to inspire me and I finally found a couple cute little additions: birdies.

I saw these birds and immediately thought of my little Ella - adorable, fun and sweet.

They fit in nicely with her "nature" theme.

Each day Ella is getting closer to figuring out how to crawl forward. Right now she just rocks back and forth really fast and then thrusts herself forward in a belly flop style motion. It's pretty funny to watch, actually, but watching her back herself into a corner is pretty funny, too.

Tonight I caught her mid-thrust!

What cute pictures of the kids...and I love the Birds in Ella's room.

I drive a mini-van. I have a love/hate relationship with tax season. I adore anything kate spade. I am a mother to three children: Josh the second grader, Lauren the preschooler and Ella the toddler. This is my blog. I am Elizabeth Bricker.
