Conversation #1
I've been having a real problem getting Lauren to stay in her bed when she's supposed to be trying to fall asleep. I hear every excuse from "I want a hug" to "I need to go potty" over and over again. Most nights I'm trying to do things around the house but some nights I'm just trying to go to bed myself! Anyway, the other night I gave her some crackers and sent her to bed. Ten minutes later she came into my room and we had this conversation:
Lauren: Mommy.
Me: WHAT, Lauren?!?
Lauren: Mommy. Tomorrow can I wear purple?
Me: Yes. Fine. Go to bed!
Lauren: Mommy.
Me: What, Lauren?
Lauren: Can I look at the birthday magazine in the morning?
Me: Lauren, if I have to tell you one more time to get into bed I am going to come in there and take your snack away from you!
Lauren: Hmmmm. Okay. I will do that for you!
Me: **stunned**

Another problem we seem to have with Lauren is her excessive whining. That child will go to timeout three times in an evening and still continue to whine. It's like it doesn't even phase her. So anytime you read a conversation that involves Lauren you must read her line as if she's whining. Because chances are....she is.
Lauren: Mom, can I have a snack?
Me: Lauren! We just finished dinner like 10 minutes ago. No!
Lauren: But I really want a snack?
Me: Well, then you should have eaten a better dinner.
Lauren: But I just want a snack?
Me: Lauren! I am tired of your whining!!!
Lauren: Well,....I'm tired of whining, too, but I just want a snack!
Conversation #3
Again....read Lauren's as a whine.
Lauren: Mom, Joshie won't let me watch the Princess Sing-a-long DVD.
Me: Lauren, you two need to find something you can both agree on. We have hundreds of movies. I know you can find one!
Lauren: But I want to watch the Princess movie...**fart**...excuse me....cuz' I like to sing!
Seriously...she said "excuse me" as a whine. I just busted up laughing!!
