Lauren had her 18 month check-up on Friday and she screamed through the whole thing (even though Dr. Anderson didn't go anywhere near her for the first fifteen minutes). She is 35" tall (97+ percentile), weighs 29 pounds (97 percentile) and has almost all of her teeth already!
She's a big girl, but perfectly proportioned (just like Josh always was). So Dr. Anderson was very happy.
Saturday we spent all day fighting with the bi-fold closet doors in Josh's room. Eight hours and a trip to Menard's later...one of the doors broke and we are back to where we started from on Saturday morning.
Sunday I worked on laundry and cleaning while Dustin organized the garage and consolidated all of the remaining construction supplies. By mid-afternoon my van was back in the garage. Thank the heavens!!!
And after we began seeing progress in an area of our house that didn't involve the basement we got pumped and decided to put up our Christmas lights outside. While Lauren napped Josh and I checked strings and replaced dead lights while Dustin hung them.
After Lauren woke up we ran to Wal-mart to pick up a few items for our big trip to Ohio and got home just in time for me to make supper.
After supper and baths the kids decided to sit and watch Dustin finish the lights while eating popcorn...all from the comfort of our living room. That was about the time I realized that I hadn't taken any photos this weekend. So I ran and got my camera, took one picture...and the camera died.
So enjoy.
Since Dustin will not be much help in preparing for the trip from here on out I am swamped and up to my neck in random lists that help me not forget anything. Tonight I made mini blueberry muffins and banana bars for the trip. The kids were a big help with the baking so before bed they each got to enjoy their reward.
Tomorrow I will hopefully start the "actual" packing and then on Wednesday do last minute laundry and finish packing.
Wish us good luck with the 10 hour drive...and please pray that we arrive safely. And if we happen to arrive still speaking to each other...all the better.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Baby Update: 24 weeks
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
